Pumpkin Chucking Oct 2010
Phenix Technologies' employees participate in their area's 1st Pumpkin Chucking Contest during the 2010 Autumn Glory Festival.
The challenge was to construct a device to throw an 8-10 pound pumpkin at a target 275 yards away.
A team of six PHENIX employees along with the support of co-workers built a trebuchet-type chucker which is a type of catapult that works by using the energy of a raised counterweight (3,000 lbs used in this system) to throw their pumpkins.
The event drew many spectators for most of the afternoon and the PHENIX team carried away the Pumpkin Chucking trophy.
The Autumn Glory Festival takes place every October in Garrett County Maryland inviting visitors to see all the beautiful leaves in many different colors.
