Phenix designs and builds water termination and water conditioning systems for up to 500kV These temporary terminations are used during factory testing of high voltage underground cables. Water Termination Systems (WTS) use low conductivity water to grade the high voltage to ground.
WTS come in two types, the most common are sealed or pressurized terminations which are available from 100kV up to 500kV AC ratings. These terminations are also suitable for impulse type testing and are programmed with a special mode for impulse operation.
The "open top" type water terminations are of an non pressurized open flow design. These terminations are available up to 100kV. The open top terminations have the advantage that the setup time is significantly reduced and they do not require the casting of rubber glands. The open top terminations are an environmentally friendly replacement for the oil type terminations.
The process water of water terminations is controlled and cooled by a water conditioning unit. Phenix conditioners are completely computerized and feature a touch screen HMI which makes then easy to operate and maintain. The water conditioners are available in the following cooling ratings 40, 60, 120 and 240kW.
